Amazing Opportunity for Families Oct. 12

Cincinnati is in the midst of an exciting revitalization. Yet one in three Cincinnatians struggle with poverty and families often have difficulty accessing resources that lead to long-term economic empowerment. As GreenLight Fund’s second investment in the City of Cincinnati, Family Independence Initiative (FII) is launching with the additional support of The Greater Cincinnati Foundation, SC Ministry, and The Mayerson Foundation. Over the next four years, FII will work with community based organizations like Child Focus and other partners to reach 1,000 families in multiple neighborhoods across Greater Cincinnati. By trusting and investing in families own solutions FII expects families to see economic and social mobility. On average nationally, during two years of engagement with FII, families report: a 23 percent increase in monthly income, 60 percent decrease in subsidies such as TANF and SNAP, a doubling of their annual income and assets, and increased education outcomes from their children. An average of $2,400 is invested in a family over two years to help with the emergency barriers like child care, transportation, utilities and housing to help families reliably build their wealth and economic mobility.
Child Focus is hosting an FII training in 3 locations (in-person at the Child Focus Training Center (Clermont Co.), live- streamed at Child Focus Mt. Orab (Brown Co.) and live-streamed at Butler Co. Education Service Center (Butler Co.) on October 12 from 6pm-7:30pm. Parents will also be put in a drawing at each site to win a 20” children’s bike. No registration is needed.
