Sensory Santa a Success!

Sensory Santa a Success!

Calendar-IconDecember 28, 2018

Some of you are wondering what a Sensory Santa is? There are many children who want to meet Santa but have sensory overload when it comes to being at the mall, waiting in a long line, having to deal with loud noises and the whole hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season.

Sensory Santa is designed for children on the Autism Spectrum and for children with sensory needs. The event was created to help children who would like to experience Santa in a quite non-threatening environment.

Again this year we offered Sensory Santa. The event was Saturday December 1 by appointment only. The families needed to register by contacting our Mt. Orab location. Each appointment time was 20 minutes. The whole family had the opportunity to meet with Santa when no one else is around. The family then has the chance to do a sensory friendly craft in one of our group rooms if they desire to do so.

This event is open to anyone and was free! The family does not have to be involved with Child Focus to partake in this event. What a wonderful amazing event for kids and families. Kudos to our staff and volunteers for making this happen!  Sensory Santa pictures can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/158011504@N03/
